My Blood is My Tears

2009 3’ stereo

When I was invited by Mosaic Films to make one of the films for the Animated Minds series dealing with Self Harm, I thought of paper as a metaphor for skin - it gets ripped, and it tears and bears marks and allows us to talk about the subject without being too graphic or distressing.

Using the voices of Abbie, Louise and Nicole, the film explores the impulses that cause self harm and the relief that physical pain may provide from the emotional pain.
